An award-winning care at home provider based in Harrogate, Ripon and Thirsk is recruiting for new staff as part of our New Year, New Career initiative.

Home Instead is owned and operated by husband and wife team Andrew and Sheena Van Parys, providing care for older people whilst allowing them to live independently in their own homes.

Their team of CAREGivers support clients on a social and emotional level, as well as getting necessary ‘jobs’ done.

And as the Home Instead team continues to expand, they’re recruiting for new staff in both care and non-care roles.

What is a CAREGiver?

“CAREGivers will encourage, stimulate and assist clients in a variety of day to day activities to maintain their independence and improve their quality of life

“All CAREGivers are carefully chosen for their empathy and nurturing qualities, their caring and respectful approach to the elderly, their reliability and their willingness to match their valuable skills with the excellent training that Home Instead has to offer.”

Do you need care experience to work at Home Instead?

“No, but you do need the right attributes – kindness, empathy, patience and a ‘can do’ attitude. If you have the right qualities we will provide the training, knowledge, and skills!”

Are you only based in Harrogate area?

“We cover not only the Harrogate area but also Ripon and Thirsk. We also support people living in Nidderdale including Pateley Bridge.”

Could you join the Home Instead team in Harrogate, Ripon and Thirsk?

“A vast benefits package, including great rates of pay at £12 or £13 an hour (dependent on NVQ qualifications), travel allowance, petrol allowance, length of service rewards including higher rates of pay and an increase in annual holiday, annual MOT check paid, monthly phone contribution, wellbeing support and award-winning training.”

What is the workout like?

“When you join our team, you will embark on our Home Instead 4-day Recruitment Assessment Program which is held within our own office and is a great opportunity to meet your colleagues.

“After this there will be shadowing with some of our experienced Senior Care Professionals who will support you alongside your allocated Field Care Supervisor.

“When you start your Care Professional journey will begin with the completion of the Care Certificate. Thereafter there will be opportunities to attend our award-winning training.

“We are the only care company to be awarded two Princess Royal Training Awards for our Alzheimer’s and dementia training, which is City & Guilds accredited. We also offer our City & Guilds accredited End of Life course, and we also deliver Parkinson’s training as we are part of the Parkinson’s UK Excellence Network.

“There is also the opportunity to achieve the NVQ qualification level 2 and 3 in health and social care. Supporting and encouraging our Care Professionals in delivering their vital work is one of our biggest priorities.”

Is there chance for career progression?

“Yes, currently 5 of our office roles are filled by employees who were our Care Professionals.

“We always look to promote from within and are always looking to expand our talent pool.

“Working as a Care Professional creates so many opportunities when they arise within our organisation, whether as a Senior Care Professional or an office position.”

Do you have any non-care roles at the moment?

“We have just recently recruited a fourth Field Care Supervisor to join our team. Due to continued to our growth and success, we will be expanding our office team this year, new job roles will be advertised on our website.”
