Fall temperatures arrive to set up beautiful weekend

CHARLOTTE, NC (WBTV) – Fall has arrived! High pressure over the eastern half of the United States will keep our area mild and dry for the first half of the weekend. Sunday will be pleasant for most areas but there will be a chance for isolated showers.

  • Saturday: Plenty of sunshine, mild.
  • Sunday: Partly cloudy, isolated showers.
  • Monday: Mostly sunny, warm.

We have a chilly start to the weekend ahead of us as Saturday morning lows drop into the 40s area-wide. By the afternoon, however, highs will be back into the mid to upper 70s.

Sunday’s Futurecast(WBTV First Alert Weather)

Anticipate slightly warmer conditions by Sunday with highs in the low 80s. A cold front will be moving through as we wrap up the weekend and could bring a few showers and rumbles of thunder to the area, but most will stay dry.

Cool and dry conditions will then return for much of next week!

Monday and Tuesday will be mostly sunny and pleasant with highs in the upper 70s. Wednesday and Thursday also look dry but the chances for rain will increase for Friday (First Alert) as our area could see impacts from the tropics.

Tropical Update: We now have four named storms in the Atlantic, the newest being Tropical Storm Ian in the Caribbean. This is the storm that we will be keeping a close eye on over the course of the next week. Intensification from here is likely and the National Hurricane Center has Ian as a Category 3 hurricane as it approaches Florida’s coastline.

First Alert: From there, tropical impacts in the Carolinas are possible by the end of the week/start of the weekend, but this will all depend on the eventual track. As we are still a week out and there’s much to figure out between now and then, just be sure to check in for frequent updates as we fine tune this forecast. We will certainly keep you posted!
