The Supreme Court (SC) inaugurated a “Gender and Development Corner” at its library on Padre Faura Street in Ermita, Manila.

Chief Justice Alexander G. Gesmundo and European Union (EU) Ambassador to the Philippines HE Luc Véron led the inauguration ceremony on Friday, Nov. 25.

The SC’s public information office (PIO) said the inauguration was held after the turnover of a series of publications on feminist jurisprudence entitled “Feminist Judgments”composed of eight books donated by the Justice Sector Reform Programme: Governance in Justice (GOJUST) funded by the EU.

Also with Chief Justice Gesmundo and Ambassador Véron were SC Associate Justices Maria Filomena D. Singh and Henri Jean Paul B. Inting who are co-chairpersons of the Committee on Gender Responsiveness in the Judiciary (CGRJ); mr. Mario Ronconi, head of unit for South and South-East Asia from the European Commission Directorate-General for International Partnerships; Senior Associate Justice Marvic MVF Leonen, chairperson of the SC Committee on Computerization and Library; and Associate Justice Amy C. Lazaro Javier, former chairperson of the CGRJ and president of the Philippine Judges Association.

During the inauguration and turnover, Justice Leonen delivered the welcome remarks, while Inting gave the closing remarks.

The PIO said the event was moderated by Atty. Joyce Jazmin G. Dimaisip Cunanan, senior chief staff officer of the SC Library.

Also present were Court Administrator Raul B. Villanueva, Assistant Court Administrator and PIO Chief Brian Keith F. Hosaka, Deputy Clerk of Court and Chief Technology Officer Jed Sherwin G. Uy and delegates from the GOJUST.
