New West El Paso shop combines flowers, wine, art and gifts

Magaly Macias, owner of the new Flowers and Blooms on the West Side, has created a one-stop shop for gift shopping.
Are you in need of fresh flowers? She’s got it, either single beautiful David Austin rose stems or bouquets of orchids, calla lilies and other exotic flowers.
Thinking about fancy chocolates and maybe adding a bottle of a boutique wine? Check! Or are you just in the mood to peruse a pretty shop and see some local art? Come on in.
“We want everyone who walks into the store to have an experience. It’s not just a flower shop,” said Macias, who just opened the shop on Redd Road with family and friends supporting her. Niece Loni Guillen, lead floral designer, and Macias both work at the shop and know about floral arrangements.
The grand opening will be from 3 to 8 pm Saturday with a wine tasting.
Guillen said, “Our main thing is to only carry garden flowers. All the flowers are imported from Ecuador, with hydrangeas from Colombia.”
They also plan to carry flowers from an Anthony, New Mexico, floriculturists. The store provides the vases but can also use a customer’s vase and provide care instructions.
And they can help people by customizing an arrangement to their style. However, customers are also welcome to pick their own flowers and try their hand at arranging. They also can get a subscription for receiving flowers on a regular basis for their home.
Family friend and artist Moises Garcia, who has been recognized as Best Fine Artist by City Magazine from 2020-23, will be the artist in residence. He will have a permanent art display but also will alternate art by other local artists. He plans to have art openings and art classes that can include wine tastings in the price.
“I’ve been making art my whole life; I concentrate on realism,” Garcia said. “In this case, I’m catering to the business, bringing in florals, horses and landscapes.”
Garcia said he wants to highlight unique El Paso talent, such as Diego “Robot” Martinez, and others.
Macias has created a warm and inviting shop with soy-based, paraben-free candles, custom ceramics by Sand Art, low maintenance air plants and other gift items, as well as a place to gather for special events and classes. The shop can deliver the flowers and wine gifts and can rent out vases, as well as floral arrangements, for intimate events.
Be sure to check it out when you’re on the West Side.
